Good news!
Just had to share it. I entered an annual contest here in Vancouver for the West End Writers Workshop. Ten short listed writers read their pieces to an audience last night at the Barclay Manor in the West End. Dennis Bolen presented the winners, and much to my amazement, I won! Nothing can compare to having an established author tell a crowd why your piece is a winner.
The piece is fictional, set in Vancouver, with a couple on the way home from a party. They are having a row, interrupted by the sudden discovery that a woman has met her grisly demise. Was she pushed off the bridge? Did she jump? Where is the hope in this world?
I will publish the story after the West end Writers get a chance to on their website. Look for it soon under “portfolio.” Until then, thanks for the continued support of my family and friends, and especially the Tuesday Ladies Writing group, who are part of my very foundation as a writer.
Now, back to blogging about inappropriate subjects. The way I see it, if I get hit by a bus tomorrow, hopefully I made someone have a good laugh today.
